Polyfluoroethylene-propylene (FEP): Abbreviated as F-46, a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. The content of hexafluoropropylene is about 15%, which is a modification material of PTFE.
F-46 is widely used in the production of wire and cable in high-frequency high-frequency electronic equipment transmission lines, electronic computer internal cable, aerospace wire and its special kind of application installation line, oil pump cable and submersible motor winding wire Insulation.
Electrical insulation properties: F-46 resin has a high volume resistivity, generally greater than 1015 Ω & # 8226; m, and with little change in temperature, is not affected by water and moisture. The arc resistance is greater than 165s. The breakdown field strength of F-46 increases with the decrease of the thickness. When the thickness is greater than 1 mm, the breakdown field intensity is above 30 KV/mm, but it does not change with the change of temperature.
Thermal properties: F-46 resin is second only to polytetrafluoroethylene, and can be used continuously in the temperature range of -85 to +200 °C. Even at the limit of -200 ° C and +260 ° C, its performance does not deteriorate and can be used for a short time.
Chemical resistance: F-46 is chemically stable similar to PTFE and has excellent chemical resistance. Except for reacting with fluorine, molten alkali metal and chlorine trifluoride at high temperature, it is not corroded when it comes into contact with other chemicals.
Mechanical properties: Compared with PTFE, the hardness and tensile strength of F-46 are slightly improved, and the coefficient of friction is slightly larger than that of Teflon. At room temperature, F-46 has good creep resistance; but when the temperature is higher than 100 °C, the creep resistance is not as good as PTFE.
